Aileen Kim will be receiving her J.D. from the University of California, Irvine School of Law in May 2018. She served as a lead article editor, and subsequently as an executive editor, for the UC Irvine Law Review. She was also a staff editor of the UC Irvine Journal of International, Transnational, and Comparative Law. Aileen’s active participation in pro bono earned her UC Irvine Pro Bono Achievement Awards and Graduation Honors, as well as the
State Bar of California’s Wiley W. Manuel Certificate for Pro Bono Legal Services. She engages primarily in immigration and criminal law pro bono matters. Following graduation, Aileen will be clerking for the Honorable Salvador Mendoza, Jr. of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Washington. |
During law school, Aileen externed for the Honorable Josephine L. Staton of the United States District Court for the Central District of California. She also externed at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Criminal Division for the Central District of California, as well as the Antitrust Division, Criminal Section of the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. As a certified law student, Aileen wrote the Ninth Circuit opening and reply briefs for her prisoner-client’s appeal. She subsequently argued in front of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. In the near future, Aileen hopes to become a federal Prosecutor. Aileen received her B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles, with multiple placements on the Dean’s Honors List.
