The child of immigrant parents who came to the US fleeing religious persecution in Iran following the 1979 revolution, Anisa wants to help build a world where everyone has access to education, housing, healthcare, a clean and safe environment, dignity, and equal protection under the law.Born in the United States, but raised in New Zealand, she understood her privilege to freely speak, worship, and study and gained a sense of responsibility to not take this for granted. Watching how certain voices were excluded and others were fed into structures of oppression, Anisa became an activist in college and began looking at how privilege affects access to things like a clean and healthy environment.

Anisa graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Washington, where she received a BS in Molecular Biology. She then received an MS in Biology from Stanford University. She hopes to work in environmental law. She believes that our treatment of the environment intersects with human rights, particularly the rights of people who have been historically exploited and denied a voice. She is passionate about protecting the environment and the people who depend on it. To achieve these goals, Anisa is currently pursuing her JD at Berkeley Law.
