At the age of two, Brenda emigrated from Mexico. Raised in the city of Compton, her amazing immigrant parents instilled in her the importance of hard work and service to others.. Brenda is the first in her family to pursue higher education and has dedicated herself to serving underprivileged communities. She earned her B.A in Political Science at Mount Saint Mary’s University.

At Southwestern, Brenda participated in the Immigration Law Clinic, the Community Lawyering Clinic and volunteered with organizations such as Human Right’s First, Public Counsel and KIND. Brenda was also Co-President of Latin@ Law Student Association and the National Lawyers Guild. Brenda has been the recipient of the Dean’s Merit Award, Mexican American Bar Foundation Scholarship, and Public Counsel’s Grunfeld Regan scholarship. Brenda has also worked with organizations such as Human Rights First and Public Counsel. Brenda will continue to pursue her goal of uplifting her community by becoming an immigration attorney.
