The first in her family to attend college and to pursue a professional degree, Elizabeth became interested in the legal field due to her and her family's experiences as immigrants and due to her legal aid work. At the time that she was accepted to college, she was also served with a deportation order back to Peru. Her experiences of struggling to obtain legal assistance and the subsequent support she received from the community eventually led her to work as an immigration paralegal at La Raza Community Resource Center. She intends to study immigration and human rights law while continuing to advocate for marginalized communities.

Elizabeth is currently pursuing her JD at Berkeley Law, where she is a member of the International Human Rights Workshop and the Berkeley Journal of International Law.
