The daughter of immigrants and a first-generation college student raised in the Central Valley, Estefani was tasked with being both a medical and legal advocate for her family from a young age. Seeing first-hand the unfair labor practices that preyed on undocumented status of workers, she became motivated to seek change in and for her community. Growing up in the Central Valley, she had minimal access to mentors and pathways to higher education, however, driven by her desire to seek change, she graduated as salutatorian of her high school and attended UCLA fully scholar.

While at UCLA, she would return to Bakersfield in the summer to work with Migrant Education, a program designed to close the academic achievement gap for agricultural laborers and their children. Seeing the education was overshadowed by fears of immigration status and working conditions, she decided that she would dedicate her life to protecting and advocating on behalf of her community from a different frame that went beyond academic education. After spending a year at the Torrance Courthouse providing legal services, Estefani returned to her hometown to teach high school and collaborate with Migrant Education. Understanding the necessity to serve her Central Valley community, she plans to return to Bakersfield after graduation, while striving to become a judge. Estefani is pursuing her JD at Berkeley Law.
