Gaganpreet Kaur

University of San Francisco School of Law
scholarship sponsored by
WilmerHale
Picture
The eldest child of Punjabi-immigrant parents from Punjab, India, Gaganpreet’s upbringing in a predominately Caucasian town left her strung between two disparate cultures and ideologies. Studying International Relations at UC Davis helped Gaganpreet better understand the power of cooperation between international communities, and felt the same principles and practices were applicable in local spaces to help bridge cultural and social gaps.

Selected as one of two student assistants to the Chancellor, Gaganpreet was able to amplify the ignored voices on campus including Black Lives matter, Palestine Divestment, and tuition hike opposition movements. As co-founder of an LLC named Sher Alliance, Gaganpreet has helped educate different ethnic communities about Punjabi-Americans and the plight of underrepresented communities in the USA. Motivated by the corruption seen in India against farmers and females, Gaganpreet aims to be the voice of those voiceless individuals. Gaganpreet is pursuing her JD at the University of San Francisco School of Law.
