Born in the Bronx and raised for some time in Ghana, Helena’s vision for the future is to live in an equitable society for women and minorities. A society in which she hopes to use her law degree to support the untapped potential of entrepreneurs in underrepresented communities. Especially helping those who are interested in developing mission-driven startup companies. Helena draws her inspiration from personal experiences that included spending part of her childhood living in Ghana, where she saw the vast differences in lifestyles.

Upon moving back to the Bronx, her hard work paid off, and she received a full tuition scholarship to Union College through the Higher Education Opportunity Program. As an undergraduate, Helena led the charge to ensure that women’s voices are heard and received the Minerva prize, which is awarded to a female student whose work combines the scholarly study of women or gender with activities that enhance student life. During this time, she worked to re-elect Ken Thompson, the first African-American DA of Brooklyn, NY. This success led her to work for Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton’s campaign and further solidified her desire to become an attorney. Helena is pursuing her JD at UC Hastings College of Law.
