Born and raised in Los Angeles, Idalmis is a proud resident of East LA, where her close proximity to factories, freeways, and abandoned lots cemented her commitment to become an environmental justice attorney and advocate for low-income communities of color. In pursuit of creating change, Idalmis majored in Environmental Studies at Wellesley College where she received numerous awards for her academic achievement and environmental activism. She was part of the community-based effort to shut down a highly polluting lead smelter in Los Angeles at Communities for a Better Environment.

At Earthjustice, she works alongside attorneys defending communities and transforming the electricity generation and transportation sectors to reduce air pollution, protect our climate, and strengthen our economy.Using her experiences, she plans to engage in community lawyering- embrace legal, policy, and organizing techniques to achieve justice for those historically marginalized by the law. She is pursuing her JD at UCLA School of Law.
