Jasjit Mundh

UC Berkeley School of Law
The Morrison & Foerster Foundation Scholar
Picture
The daughter of Punjabi immigrants and a first-generation student herself, Jasjit lost her father to cancer when she was 3 years old. Her experiences of growing up in a single-parent household and a low-income, immigrant neighborhood allowed her to personally understand the unique difficulties low-income families face within various institutional realms. As a child, she and her sister acted as facilitators between the social workers and her mother.

She owes her resilience to her mother, through whom she discovered the world of advocacy. As an undergraduate student at UC Berkeley, Jasjit worked with labor unions, renters' rights programs, and voter activism organizations to help marginalized communities such as her own Sikh community, to gain a sense power within society. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare from UC Berkeley. She is dedicated to continuing her public service work with dreams of running a pro-bono law firm, while also becoming an advocate and future judge. To achieve these goals, Jasjit is currently pursuing her JD at Berkeley Law.
