Raised in the Central Valley and the son of Mexican immigrants, Jonathan is the first in his family to attend and graduate from college, and is also the first in his family to pursue an advanced professional degree. He supported his family by working alongside his father in various family business from the young age of 9. After graduating from Shafter High School, and during the pursuit of his undergraduate degree, Jonathan would spend his time working with youth between the ages of 13 and 17, focusing on mentorship and academic development.
