Picture
Raised in Arvin, CA, Oscar is a first generation Mexican-American and son of an immigrant farm worker. During his adolescence, he endured the deportation of his mother, with whom he wasn’t reunited with until two years later. He took upon the role of becoming a surrogate parent to his siblings, while foregoing college opportunities outside rural Central Valley. Nevertheless, Oscar persevered and graduated at the top of his class while studying Economics and English Literature at California State University, Bakersfield.

As an undergraduate student, he worked for Chevron Corporation while remaining actively involved in numerous campus organizations and community outreach initiatives. Oscar recognizes law as an instrument for social change and himself as a future advocate engaged in immigration reform. One of his short terms goals includes working as a judicial clerk to intimately familiarize himself with litigation in the judiciary. Inspired by the strength and resilience of his mother, Oscar is pursuing his JD at UCLA School of Law.
