Susan is a ChangeLawyers℠/Equal Justice Works fellow with the Detention Project of Centro Legal’s Immigration program. Her project focuses on direct representation and advocacy for incarcerated immigrants in removal proceedings through the Institutional Hearing Program. During law school, Susan interned at immigrants’ rights organizations in the Bay Area and New York City, helped start a “crimmigration” project at the East Bay Community Law Center, and launched Berkeley Law’s first immigration bond fund.

​Prior to law school, Susan was a community organizer in Providence, Rhode Island, organizing in working-class immigrant communities for immigrants’ rights, racial justice and police accountability, tenants’ rights, and education equity. Susan holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Latin American Studies from Brown University, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley Law School.
